Impact Of Heat Treatments On Seed Viability Of The Yellow Morelle (solanum Elaeagnifolium Cav.)

Solanum elaeagnifolium Cav. is one of the most spread intrusive plants in the Mediterranean region. The main objective of this work was to study the thermal effect of composting on the viability of seeds of this plant. The laboratory valuation relating to the treatment of seeds (seeds or bays) of silverleaf nightshade in the steam room in three temperatures (40°C, 60°C and 80°C) and during three time of exposure (one day, twodays and three days) have given an invalid rate of seeding starting from the temperature of 60°C and time of exposure of three days, even two days. Seeing that such temperature is generally reach during the thermophilic phase of process of composting, another valuation consisting to introduce seeds of silverleaf nightshade in to three heaps (Ovine Compost, Ovine Co-compost and Sylvicultural Co-compost) has been realized. The follow-up of temperature in the heaps of compost (which made every two days) raised an ascent of reaching temperature 60°C, even more, during the thermophilic phase of the process of composting. The rate of germination was invalid for all seeds treated by composting even before the first overturn realized, whatever the type of seed studied, whatever the nature of compost produced, whatever the location of heaps considered.
