Algeria votes in a presidential election on March 9 but there is little doubt about the outcome and in Islamist strongholds in the suburbs of the capital Algiers there is little enthusiasm or interest. Analysts expect Bouteflika to easily beat his five rivals for office. He won the 1999 election against no opponents, and was re-elected in 2004 with 85 percent of the votes.
